Whistler Blackcomb is the largest ski resort in North America. There are over 200 marked trails, 8,171 acres of terrain, 16 alpine bowls, and 3 glaciers to explore across two mountains. The side-by-side mountains of Whistler and Blackcomb are connected by the Peak to Peak Gondola, the world’s longest and highest continuous lift system. The resort is about a two-hour drive from Vancouver, British Columbia.

Winter in Whistler Blackcomb
Intermediate/blue runs make up the majority of marked trails, though there is plenty of terrain for all levels across the resort. Both Whistler and Blackcomb have progressive terrain parks, with the medium-sized features found at the Whistler park. Snowcat and heli-skiing are popular activities with adventure-seekers. Family-friendly on-mountain activities include snow tubing, ice skating, and zipline tours.
Many people visit Whistler solely to explore the large and bustling village, so prepare for tourists here to shop, dine, and sightsee. Highly regarded restaurants like Araxi, Il Caminetto, and Rimrock Cafe are popular with foodies trekking up from Vancouver, though there are over 170 restaurants in Whistler for every budget and occasion.

There are over 50 km (30 miles) of trails to explore on foot or bike, from challenging summit grinds to gentle shaded forest paths. Plus, the Whistler Bike Park offers 70 trails that wind through old-growth rainforests in four unique zones. Leisure cyclists will enjoy the Whistler Valley Trail, a paved network of paths through neighbourhoods and around nearby lakes, with many scenic viewpoints along the way.
The Family Adventure Zone at the base of Blackcomb has rope courses, bungee trampolines, and there’s mini golf nearby. Lost Lake is a short walk or bike ride from the village for swimming or lounging. Further out, Rainbow Lake has a beach volleyball court, and Wayside Park offers lakeside BBQs and kayak rentals.
With a large network of logging and fire service roads, ATV tours, off-road jeep excursions, bear sightseeing, and wilderness excursions offer something unique for visitors looking to get into the mountains without breaking a sweat.

What’s New at Whistler Blackcomb
Overall improvements to the parking and arrival experiences are planned ahead of the winter 2025-26 season. Updates coming to the Whistler Bike Park include a new access point to Zone 2 A-Line and Ninja Cougar, an alternate exit for BCC trails in Creekside, an extension of Pumpkin Moon, and upgraded wall rides on Crank It Up.
Several major updates to lift infrastructure have taken place at Whistler Blackcomb since 2018, including the Fitzsimmons Express, Big Red Express, and Creekside Gondola. Most recently, the Jersey Cream Express was upgraded to a new high-speed 6-person chair (2024-25 season) to increase uphill capacity to the Glacier Creek Zone of Blackcomb Mountain.
Getting Around Whistler Blackcomb
Whistler is easy to navigate without a car because the village is walkable and the Valley Trail connects most areas. BC Transit runs year-round buses between Whistler Village, Creekside, Upper Village, and surrounding neighborhoods, with added service in peak seasons. Buses have racks for skis, bikes, and strollers, and kids 12 and under ride free.
Some properties in Whistler have a complimentary shuttle service for their guests. Taxis and rideshares are also available. Should you choose to drive, there is paid parking in the Village and day lots, including options for electric and oversized vehicles.
