About the Resort

Where small town charm meets world-class hospitality, Whitefish is brimming with splendor and character.

Before the first T-Bar opened on December 14, 1947 local skiers drove to the far end of town and hiked up the mountain wearing leather ski boots and wooden skis. They built a cabin in 1935 for multi-day trips to better explore the mountain. Soon word spread that the “Big Mountain” had great skiing. For generations, friends and families have gathered on the slopes to ski and have a good time. Today Whitefish Mountain Resort is still a place where people come to escape crowds, the hassles and pressures of everyday life.

With an unlimited terrain of 3,000 acres1,214 hectares and 105 marked trails to choose from, Whitefish is the ultimate destination for guests who are wanting a taste of something more. Riders can push their limits on the skier/boardcross course, hone their skills in one of four different terrain parks or challenge themselves in the vast amount of bowl and tree skiing areas. Within minutes of being on the slopes, guests realize it's called Big Mountain for a reason.

After a day on the mountain, guests can head down to Whitefish, Montana – a vibrant town that welcomes visitors who rub elbows with friendly locals at its coffee shops, bars and boutiques. Local eateries vary from casual to elegant, many serving locally-harvested ingredients from the Flathead Valley’s bountiful farms. From the serene mountain tops, to the captivating town, Whitefish feels like home.

It's not hard to see that Whitefish is the catch of a lifetime.
