Kimberley Ski Resort | British Columbia | 2026 Information

About Kimberley

Kimberley Alpine Resort is a comfortable mid-size resort with serious terrain and a welcoming mountain-town vibe. The resort has 1,800 acres of terrain, 80 runs, and two terrain parks. It’s serviced by 5 lifts, including a magic carpet.

Kimberley is located in southeastern British Columbia, in the Purcell Mountains. Short lift lines and a “local-mountain” vibe make it an appealing alternative to larger-resort destinations.

Snowfall and Conditions

Kimberley receives an average of 13 feet of snowfall each winter (150 inches / 400 cm). Conditions trend consistently from January through March, with light, dry snow typical of the Purcells, augmented by snowmaking for consistent coverage.

The combination of snowfall, grooming quality, and steady temperatures helps maintain dependable surface conditions across the mountain. Snowmaking helps in light snow years or early/late season.

Winter at Kimberley Alpine Resort

Kimberley is defined by long fall-line groomers, extensive glades, and a low-pressure feel on the mountain. In fact, it is home to one of the largest gladed zones in North America, covering more than 202 hectares (500 acres).

Its vertical rise is 751 m (2,465 ft), spread across two primary areas:

  • Front Side: Wide groomed cruisers, softer grades, and powder stashes after storms. This area is popular with families and those refining their technique.

  • Back Side: Steeper terrain, sustained fall-lines, and more advanced glading. This side sees fewer crowds and holds snow well due to its aspect.

The resort offers roughly 20% beginner runs, 42% intermediate, and 38% advanced.  It has big enough terrain to keep advanced skiers happy, while still being manageable for families.

Terrain parks include a progression-focused rail park and a second park with medium features. Kimberley also has one of the top-rated ski schools in North America, known for small-group instruction and strong children’s programs.

Night skiing runs multiple evenings per week through much of the season.

Numerous lakes lie north of the resort. Premier Lake and Wasa Lake are popular day-trip choices for swimming, paddling, and shoreline walking trails.

A fun cultural experience is the historic Sullivan Mine tour, featuring an underground railway locomotive ride through the Mark Creek Valley to an interpretive centre.
