Banff Sunshine Resort has over 3,300 acres of skiable terrain, 137 marked trails, and five terrain parks. The resort sits high atop the Continental Divide, within Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. It’s accessible via a 15-minute gondola ride from the base access point, approximately a 15-minute drive away from the town of Banff.

Banff Sunshine Resort receives up to nine meters (30 feet) of 100% natural snow annually. Its base-area elevation of 5,440 ft / 1,658 m and peak elevation of 8,954 ft / 2,730 m ensure light, dry, and incredibly skiable snow conditions. Winter at Banff Sunshine Resort

The ski season at Banff Sunshine Resort stretches from early November to mid or late May. Skiing and riding are spread across three mountain peaks: Mount Standish, Lookout Mountain, and Goat's Eye Mountain. Mount Standish is perfect for beginners and intermediates, while Lookout and Goat's Eye Mountains are more suitable for strong intermediates and experts who will find challenging terrain in the Wild West area and off-piste Delirium Dive.

Gentle off-slope activities include snowshoeing and scenic gondola rides on the Angel Express or Standish Chairs. Head to Mount Norquay for the tubing park or to Lake Louise Ski Resort for ice skating.

Summer at Banff Sunshine Resort

Banff Sunshine primarily attracts people in winter for skiing and snowboarding. Once the snow melts from the ski trails, a series of gentle hiking trails and sightseeing spots open in Banff Meadows. Expect sweeping mountain and lake views, wildflower meadows, and possible wildlife sightings. Visitors can join a 1 or 2-hour hosted trail walk or explore on their own. Challenging full-day hikes can also be found.

Getting Around Banff Sunshine Resort

Banff Sunshine is about 15-20 minutes by car or shuttle from the town of Banff. There is only one on-mountain hotel in Sunshine Village, so most visitors will book lodging in Banff, where there are more options for groups, families, and solo travellers. Directions from Banff, 18 km, 20 minutes Head south on Banff Ave toward Wolf St. Turn right onto Wolf St. Turn right onto Lynx St. Continue onto Gopher St. Continue onto Mt Norquay Rd. Turn left to merge onto Trans-Canada Hwy/AB-1 W. Take the exit toward Sunshine Rd. Continue onto Range Rd 130A. Continue onto Sunshine Rd and follow to your destination.
