About the Resort

The Lake Louise Ski Area has a rich, important history in Banff National Park. Alpinists have come here since the late 1800s to experience some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. In 1909, skiing was introduced by Swiss and Austrian mountain guides, and in 1930, Skoki Lodge was established as the first commercial ski lodge in Canada. Lift access skiing began in 1954, and four years later, summer lift access was added. Today, the Lake Louise ski resort is a world-renowned four-season natural playground.

Known for it’s spectacular scenery and versatile terrain, Lake Louise ski resort boasts over 4,200 acres spread across four mountain faces making it one of the largest ski resorts in North America. Located in the heart of the magnificent Canadian Rockies, Lake Louise lets it's legendary world-class terrain speak for itself, while Mother Nature does the rest.

Just minutes from the village of Lake Louise, the ski resort offers a variety of terrain from gentle slopes and long cruising runs, to glades, chutes and some of the Canadian Rockies most exciting and wide open bowls. This exceptional layout allows families and groups of all abilities to share the experience of Lake Louise and ski together with beginner, intermediate and expert runs from every chair.

It has come as no surprise that Lake Louise has been named one the top three freestyle resorts in the world, as well as being named #1 Ski Resort in Canada at the prestigious 2017 World Ski Awards.
